Mooneye (solo) – GC De Kluize – 23 april 2025

On Tuesday, April 23rd, Michiel Libberecht, the face of Mooneye, together with guitarist Jess Jacob, delivered a captivating set at GC De Kluize in Oosterzele. This time, no full band—just a stripped-down duo that allowed the strength and vulnerability of the songs to shine through. “Almost solo,” Libberecht joked, but it was clear the chemistry between the two musicians created a concert that went straight to the core.
The set was carried by warm guitars, flawless harmonies, and an atmosphere that almost demanded silence—and the audience was silent. From the very start, there was a charged intimacy in the air, a tension that never felt uncomfortable but instead drew the audience closer to the music.
There were many highlights. ‘Fix The Heater’ and ‘Thinking About Leaving’ sent chills through the room. The choice to perform some songs in the West Flemish dialect—“’t Moens”—added a personal touch to the performance. The audience responded warmly and attentively, completely immersed in Mooneye’s world.
For those who only know Mooneye from the more radio-friendly studio recordings, this concert revealed another side of Libberecht’s musical universe: vulnerable, honest, and unadorned. This show proved once again that strong songs don’t need grand production to make a deep impact.
GC De Kluize was (again) the perfect setting for this subdued yet intense evening. The theater hall acted like a cocoon where every note and every silence gained meaning.
In short, a moving concert that lingered long after the last note—an evening to cherish for everyone who was there.
