Ambiorix Top 40 – 2025-10

For the second time this year, David Byrne (#1 with “A Door Called No”) walks away with the gold medal! Where typical 80s and 90s devotees like The Saints (#2 “Empires – Sometimes We Fall”) and Men Without Hats (#3 “In Glorious Days”) suddenly reappear out of nowhere remains a mystery to me! The fact is, the material they’ve delivered stands shoulder to shoulder with their glory days. Hence the exceptionally high scores!

Bernie Leadon of The Eagles reveals himself, at an advanced age, to be a gifted solo artist (#7) with “Too Late To Be Cool.” Half a century after leaving The Eagles, his album count only stands at two! Mirror was his solo debut back in 2004, and only this month comes the follow-up, the album Too Late To Be Cool.

For the very first time in her illustrious career, Taylor Swift has managed to convince me of her musical talent (and not just a little). In my quest for more elevated creations by—or from the mouth of—Miss Taylor, I remain, for now, stuck on that one class song.

Just outside the top 10, there’s a half-dozen Belpop songs shining gloriously, such as “Ik wil niet dat je het koud hebt” (#11) by De Mens, “End Scene” (#12) by the supergroup Glitterpaard, and at #15 the return of Fred Angst with “Misschien,” one of many fine creations from Stockholmsyndroom. Stef Kamil Carlens and The Poem hold position #17 with “A Thousand Kisses Deep.” Augustijn is also fully back with “Relatief” (#19), already his eighth single release of 2025. The Ghent-based Dressed Like Boys closes this homegrown and intimate row with “Finger Trap” (#20). Only Admiral Freebee drifts just below them at #26 with “Q&A With Myself.”

Rapper Gael Faye makes his debut at #34 with “A Trop Courir,” brought to me via my better half—madly in love as she dances her way through life to French hip-hop.

For the rest, it’s about time to look forward to the final chords of this monstrous past year.
In the Year 2025, an AI wonder that man is still alive!
